Powder Culture Tour
5 February 2018 tot 16 February 2018
11 nights, 9 days snowboarding.
The area around Nagano is known for having the highest mountains of Japan which receives massive amounts of snow. During this tour we take full use of this and visit traditional Japanese places like Nozawa Onsen, Madarao and Myoko.
Nozawa Onsen is known for its amazing treeruns while the village is cozy and typical Japanese with lots of bath houses, onsens. Madarao is a lesser known resort but has a lot of inbound tree runs!
Lastly we ride in Myoko. This bigger resort is still unknown with tourists while it yearly receives massive amounts of snow! Myoko has something for everyone: from mellow tree runs to pillows and steep couloirs. On top of exploring new resorts, we also go on a guided backcountry day with local ski patrol. Some short hikes from the lift get us to some of the lightest snow in the area and provide us some unbelievable 'First' tracks! During our day off we explore Nagano and the famous snow monkeys.
This tour is fully guided by 'First" and we'll show you the best spots on- and off the mountain!
We try and keep the groups small so we can maximize our time on the hill!

Visit the beautiful temples, explore the many onsens or just wander the little streets. At night when everyone checked in we all go for a delicious dinner in of of the many restaurants.
Day 2 & 3:
These days we'll spent exploring the many great powder runs Nozawa Onsen has to offer. This powder factory has some all time tree runs all within easy access from the lifts. After a sick day snowboarding we can relax in one of the many natural hotsprings, onsens. At night there are plenty of restaurants we can go to for dinner or even sneak in a beer or two at the local pub.
Today we get up early and use the local busses to get us to the nearby resort of Madarao. Upon arrival we drop our bags somewhere and head straight up the mountain to enjoy all the natural features Madarao has to offer. We check in after our day on the hill!
Today we can revisit our favorite runs from the previous day!
Today we spend with our local ski patrol guide and head into the Madarao backcountry! After a few short hikes we go on the hunt for some epic pow and unforgettable 'First' tracks!
After a fantastic day riding powder we head towards our accommodation in Myoko Kogen. A local pendle bus gets us from Madarao to Myoko where we'll check into our hotel and head out for dinner and drinks.
This day we can rest our legs and experience the local culture. Possibilities are to visit nearby Nagano and combine it with the local snow monkeys. You can also go snowmobiling through deep snow over rice fields or visit the local onsens. For the 'die-hards' there are possibilities to go
cat-skiing, visit Sekki Kogen or spend an extra day riding Myoko.
Day 8, 9, 10& 11:
Myoko Kogen is a big vulcano with 4 interlinked resorts. Each resorts has its own qualities and depending on weather and conditions our guide will take you to the best spots!
At night we visit the many different ramen, sushi and yakitori restaurants and can end the night in some of the apres ski bars in town. One of them with indoor skate ramp!
After an amazing tour having seen some of the best resorts around Nagano it is time to say goodbye. In stead of using more busses we jump on the local train to Nagano. From there we get the bullet train back to Tokyo. Flying through Japan with 300km per hour is a truly amazing experience.
If you want to snowboard some more or want to stay longer we can help you organize this.
A few days in Tokyo is also highly recommended!
This tour is for the intermediate to experienced snowboarder. Experience in deep snow is not necessary but recommended to get as much out of your holiday as possible. Some runs are accessible via narrow cat tracks.
Our guides have lots of experience and can give you tips and tricks to improve your riding!
Because most of the runs are side country, backcountry equipment (backpack, beacon, shovel & probe) is recommended.
All the hotels we're staying in are 2- person rooms. We're sleeping in both Japanese rooms with futon bedding and western rooms with single beds.
Breakfast in included.
Prefer to have a private room we can arrange this. (extra cost)
